Document Summary

Multi-cell bud off or fragment off parents. In asexual reproduction, offspring is a result of mitotic division. Daughter cells are genetically identical to parents. No fusion of gametes in asexual reproduction. No mates needed save time save energy. Organisms must be in a favorable environment. Haploid gamete + haploid gamete = diploid zygote. Produce offspring that are not genetically identical to the parents combination of the mom and the dad. When gametes combine, we have to make sure we get a diploid zygote by creating haploid gametes. Meiosis does this for us as it involves 2 divisions. 1 diploid cell meiosis i -- 2 haploid cells meiosis 2 -- 4 haploid cells. They"re going to show up highly condensed and stained so they"re easily visible to us. Have many of the same characteristics length, centromere position, staining patterns (for a karyotype) Dna stored in genes then genes control same inheritance characteristics. Female sex cells -- xx -- identical.
