Pre milgram study: subjects were teachers and a confederate learner. The teacher would test the students and used a shock board for negative reinforcement. Experimenters tell the subjects that they must continue with the study. 65% of subjects continued with shocks for the entire study. Milgram study: majority of subjects in study had symptoms of depression and anxiety. Organized knowledge structures that influence perception, memory, & behavior. How we think about the world around us(situations, other people). We acquire schema throughout life a lot of schemas are common but individual tend to perceive/remember things differently. Organized structure with different items grouped into how they are related. People are build to take on schemas especially relating to languages. Experience-having experience with different objects and situations. Modeling-imitation of others and modeling their behavior (children imitate their parents) Operant conditioning- reinforce or punish ideas to shape schema.
