There is no universal idea of historical particularism, boas has his own concrete idea his students then take that and do their own thing. Two main components of boas" approach - historicism and relativism. These are the standards by which to measure boasians", most are a mix of both or one and not the other, or neither. Kroeber is focused on history but not a relativist, tylor is another example of this. Radin is a relativist and not a historicist, all about the relativistic stuff doesn"t really look at the historical stuff. His thing was a longitudinal study of life history (a study done over a long period of time) all about taking direct ethnographic data, basically opposite of the spectrum from kroeber.
