All forms of measurement have some form of subjectivity. How you operationalize a concept could very well determine how your results. Operationalization might therefore be the most important thing you do. We are interest in concepts like intelligence, memory, emotions, etc. We assume that there is a connection between our measurements and the concept. Converging operations- measuring a concept with multiple operational will come out definitions. Helps overcome limits of any one measurement and give us a more accurate measure of the concept. Behaviour is defined broader than you may think. How could you describe a group of people. How much, how often, to what degree. Captures aspects that can be categorized and/or measured easily. Length, height, area, volume, weight, speed, time, temperature, numbers, counts, percentages, etc. Captures aspects that can be observed but not easily/appropriately categorized or measured. Appearance, feelings, descriptions, tastes, colors, textures, subjective experiences. Science is not about one or the other, but both have value.
