Clothing: cloth was spun and woven in the homes. embroidery. Women took pride in the artistry and skill of making cloth: many references to this in literature and poetry. Ex. the legend of arachnida: dyeing took place outside of the home. Greece had city-states, unlike minoans with their city palaces. War is a major player in the history. Differences: archaic greeks had less fabric and were more patterned compared to hellenic, classical greek had lighter, more pleated fabric. Retained some of the patterning from the archaic, but was not as de ned: hellenic had a lot of fabric, and generally patterning wasn"t a major thing. Etruscans - a tribe living in the italian peninsula (ca. 800-700bc: disappeared. got absorbed into the romans. Cuirass/breastplate: made of little pieces of leather/metal which were strung together. Loincloth: worn under the clothing through to the romans. Was worn under tunics or sometimes on their own.
