Vikings had a pagan religion: overtime, they are converted to christianity. Viking area = modern day norway, sweden and denmark. Decoration: very important to the vikings. Major finding sites: herjolfsnes, greenland = amazing textile nd. Found in the early 2000s: gotland, sweden. Women were also included as warriors, also could have been leaders: not predominantly, but it was signi cant, women could divorce men as vikings, later on they no longer could because of. Viking shield: originally round and reinforced with metal rim and wooden bands, by 12 century, assumes anglo-saxon shape, which is more of an oval with a point at the end. Sources on the vikings: illustrated manuscripts = important historical source on the vikings. But may be a little dif cult to understand: chess pieces, stone pictures. One style was very full and gartered down or tucked into a boot. Tunics: could have chainmail tunics, bands of trim on their clothes.
