Comedy needs to be updated with the times, but certain principles remain: people being tricked, but the trickster falling flat in the end, comedic irony. People had to (cid:271)e d(cid:396)essed i(cid:374) thei(cid:396) (cid:862)(cid:396)oles(cid:863) all the ti(cid:373)e tea(cid:272)he(cid:396) outfit, p(cid:396)iest, judge"s robes, etc. Nobody could wear silk but nobility bourgeois women wanted to wear silk, so they would war it as undergarments or at home. Different kinds of fur were allowed for different people. Color was big here: purple = royal, ki(cid:374)g"s (cid:449)a(cid:454) = (cid:455)ello(cid:449, jews = yellow, prostitutes= red, priests = colorless. France was very empirical when it came to laws .
