Document Summary
As the author of the craft of research note, always record the bibliographic information as soon as you think a source might be of use. Having to re-track down a source to get the bibliographic information is never fun, especially when you"re on a deadline: engaging sources. Likewise, as they suggest in section 6. 2, actively engage your sources. Read generously in your first read through, but be prepares to question claims and evidence you read, and think about how the source (its claims, its evidence, etc. ) relates to other sources you"ve read. When you begin to read a new source, skim it before you read it in depth. Read the introduction and conclusion, and take note of any headings and illustrations. While reading the introduction conclusion, figure out what the author is arguing and identify the thesis/main claim in the piece.
