In the beginning of god"s creating vs. in the beginning, god created . Jews find the first version more accurate, as they see god"s creating as an ongoing process. God creates through speech - and god said: let there be light . In genesis 1, god creates human and then male and female . Proud: after creating things, god says this is good . God"s creations are good for a reason; they serve a function. In judaism, things serving their purpose = holiness: genesis 1: each according to its kind . Good as in good for us (humanity) Powerful: can create things just by saying them. There is a system of needs and meeting those needs in genesis. Things that god creates have different needs and these needs are met by previous creations. I have given every green herb for food . God creates food and water, the possibility of humankind reproducing and continuing on.
