Document Summary

Measure of center: the value that is located in the center of a data. Mean (arithmetic mean): the sum of all the numbers in the data set divided by the total number of values in the data set. To find the mean, add all the numbers that are given then divide that sum by the total number of values you have. Ex: 1,2,4,8,10: 1+2+4+8+10 = 25, 25/5 = 5. Median: the number in the middle when the numbers are arranged in numerical order from smallest to the biggest. To find the median, arrange all the numbers from smallest to the biggest or biggest to the smallest, then count the number of values you have. If it"s odd, then your median is the middle number of your data set. If the total number of values are even, then take the two middle numbers and take the mean of those two. Mode: the number that occurs the most in the data set.
