Document Summary

Moralist: believe that we have free will because without it there is no possibility of morality. We do have free will because we must have free will to be morally responsible for our actions. We do not have free will because all events are entirely governed by causal laws. men are capable of acting freely, in the sense that is required to make them morally responsible. human behavior is entirely governed by causal laws. Moralist: maybe not every event has a cause. Determinist: every event has a cause, that fact is based off sciences. Moralist: there is a limit to what science can explain, like the consciousness. Determinist: give me an example of one thing science cannot explain. It is not an accident that i do what i do, my choice is explained by something- my character, not physical causes. Moreover, i am responsible for my character. my choice depends upon my character (ayer 35).
