PHYS 2211K Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Ruili, Filmstrip
Document Summary
Dictionary: the definition of physics is the study of matter, energy, and the interaction between the two . Dr. wang: probing nature with experiments and using mathematical models to explain as simple as possible the phenomena the things physicists encounter. Imagine a filmstrip of a car racing. Cut the strip into individual frames and overlap them all. The composite image of the car is the motion diagram. A motion diagram is a composite image showing an object"s position at several equally spaced instants of time. Treat the car as a dot so we can concentrate on just the dot and not little details. By replacing whatever object you were looking at by a dot, you can focus more on what is happening. When dots start off close and start getting further apart, you can imagine that the dot is picking up speed.
