Conflict is inevitable and can occur in all communication forms. Everyone in interpersonal relationships experiences conflict because people are different. Conflict can occur in all communication forms. Online - results from not following the rules of politeness. Depletes energy better spent on other areas. Person hides real feelings - one closes himself / herself off. Leads to loss of intimacy and more conflict. Forces one to examine problem and work toward potential solution. It shows the other person you are willing to resolve the conflict - relationship is worth the work. Conflict can focus on content and/or relationship issues. Pertains to the objects, events, or people who are external to the conflict. Relationship conflicts are often hidden as content ones. Greater tolerance for conflict v. less tolerance. Conflict resolution styles in low and high-context cultures. High-context cultures used indirect confrontation; low-context cultures used direct confrontation.
