Haptics- the study of the type, amount, uses of, and results of tactile behavior (the study of touch) Touch is the primary, if not the only means of interaction for many basic forms of animal. Gentling behavior is the stroking and touching of animal newborns. Licking- used in animal world to clean the offspring; also plays an important role in stimulating the physiological functions of newborn animals and therefore contributes to their survival. Children: marasmus- the wasting-away disease among infants, determined to be the, males receive more touch from humans in the first 6 months and female received result of a lack of tactile stimulation more touch after that. Professional-functional touch- impersonal, business-like touch used to accomplish or perform some task or service. Social-polite touch- serves to communicate a limited form of interpersonal involvement; our body contact serves to acknowledge the other in a social role, as during a greeting.
