Education for democratic citizenship (edc) happens in 3 domains: knowledge, skills, and dispositions. James banks is a very well-known scholar who started exploring multicultural education in 80s and 90s. Complex look at cultural, national, and global identification. Dalton found, in accordance with campbell, that more education you have, the more engaged you become, and duty-based citizenship slightly drops beyond ba degree. When we think about westheimer and kahne"s three types of citizenship education, we also have to consider the values of the school, teachers, parents, societies, and students. Value of certain citizenship characteristics and the implementation of those value-based curriculum is a different question.
