Document Summary

Any solid or liquid particle, other than water. Density: near surface air is more dense, decreases rapidly. Thermal layers of the atmosphere: four distinct layers. 2 times thicker at equator than poles. Solid has less energy: excessive energy is released in to the environment, from solid to liquid energy is required. From ice to vapor: sublimnation, heat taken from environment. From vapor to ice is: deposition, heat released to environment. When a solid material is exposed to heat: convection. Heat os transferred by the movement from place to place: radiation. All object above the temperature of absolute zero give off ( emit energy in the form of: electromagnetic spectrum. Classifies radiation by wavelength: stefan boltzman law. The higher the temperature of an object the greater the amount of total energy by that object: wiens law. The higher the temperature the shorter the wave length. Sun would release more energy because it has higher temperature: sun or earth wave length.
