Oct. 31 & nov. 2 - disorders: schizophrenia, symptoms, delusions bizarre false beliefs, sometimes paranoia, hallucinations - auditory, visual, tactile, disorganized speech word salad, jumble of ideas, grossly inappropriate behavior childlike silliness, violent, unpredictable agitation. Excessive levels of cortisol: life experience, women in particular, less satisfying work/home lives, face more discrimination, poverty, and abuse, violence, adolescence exposed to violence are more likely to become, problems with close attachments depressed or suicidal. Results from separations and losses: anaclitic depression. Inflated self-esteem: possible genetic/biological causes, personality disorders, a chronic, inflexible pattern of behavior, thinking, or emotion that usually begins before the age of 18, borderline pd, unstable moods, difficulty maintaining fulfilling intimate. Impulsivity: antisocial pd, lying, cheating, manipulation, lack of guilt, extreme cases: psychopathy or sociopathy , for diagnosis, one must meet 3 of the following symptoms, possible causes, abnormalities in the cns, doesn"t respond to stress, genetic problems with impulse. Inherited inability to control response: brain damage, physical neglect, injury.
