The treaty is unique because it defines different kinds of migrant workers beyond basic definitions, whereas many conventions have more vague definitions of its subjects. Importance of invisible workers and the role of gender. When analyzing this convention, it is important to note the concept of invisible workers . Article 68 discusses the importance of eradicating illegal labor migration and preventing the employment of irregular work situations . However, the field of domestic work makes up a huge portion of migrant work (83 million domestic workers, not including children). Because of the nature of their recruitment (easily informal) and their physical inaccessibility (working in private residences), these workers are some of the hardest to track and protect. Furthermore, about 83% of this field is female, making them/their families an especially vulnerable population. The ilo, or international labour organisation, is a tripartite un agency that deals with international labor standards. They work to register complaints against violating entities.
