For this posting i will put angels in america and cloud 9 together for comparison because they are what is most recently in my mind. Both of these stories have a similar message. Characters are defined by their identity groups and not who they truly are as individuals. Although kushner comments on some deep subject matter he is able to use humor and satire. One of the ways this is done is through stage production with theatrical illusions and characters like mr. It makes the material much lighter to read. Cloud 9 has a similar take on identity.
