Document Summary

Shakespeare"s hamlet is a play full of revenge demonstrations. This play is kind of a complex one with hamlet seen to be trying to understand his actions. Thus, several questions erupt whose answers are not so certain. The ghost is considered the greatest mystery that hamlet sees. He is seen not only by hamlet but also bernardo, marcellus, and horatio as the play begins. This means that the ghost is not simply imagination that hamlet has but a reality. He stands for what seems to be the truth and states that claudius murdered him. This is evident when claudius is seen talking alone in scene. The ghost could be credible or he could be using hamlet as an outlet to pursue his revenge. Hamlet is still mourning the loss of his father so it is unclear the intentions or motives that the ghost truly stands for.
