Introduction to Human Development
Assignment 1: Naturalistic Observation
Observe parent with child (<10; under the age of 10) for 15-20
minutes in everyday setting, particularly use of cell phones.
In first paragraph of assignment, describe setting in detail and
indicate date & time.
In second part, make two columns
Write everything that happens on left, make inferences on right
in last paragraph, briefly summarize your observations and insights

right way/good way to complete it and get a great grade!
Assignment 2: Interview
conduct interview with middle-aged or retired person (40+)
in first paragraph, indicate person’s age and your relationship with
him or her
ask 5 required questions that provide insights into person’s life in Q &
A format
in last paragraph, summarize your impressions and insights.
5 required questions:
1. what are some of your most important accomplishments?
2. If there is one thing you could do over again, what would it be?
3. What are your favorite memories of growing up?
4. If you had to describe yourself in one sentence what would it say?
5. What advice would you give to someone like me?

Summarize major points of speaker’s presentation
