38 views5 pages

Document Summary

Vestibular sense is our sense of balance that happens automatically and subconsciously. It is evolutionarily old, and we don"t have to think about it, happened automatically. We can meditate ourselves into feeling like our body is in the correct orientation, but it takes a lot of effort. This we would do if we were dizzy. Spatial orientation - not our placement in the room, but is the physical orientation of our body in the space that it"s in. Tilt: are we upright (head is flat and forward) or are we tilt (laying down in a lounge chair, static orientation of our body. Linear motion: moving in a line walking forward straight ahead or walking sideways, dynamic translation of the body along a straight path. Angular motion: any motion with a curve to it, can have a combination of linear and angular motion, walking in a circle walking forward and then turning. All of these things can vary independently.
