Rites of passage: cultural acceptance within a community, experience in the transition from childhood to adulthood, cross-cultural analysis of life-cycles. Rites of passage cannot happen without the elders provide knowledge and guidance. Rites of passage are socially sanctioned moments/events with rites of reversal: rites of reversal don"t follow the normal rules (things otherwise wrong or inappropriate within a culture are considered acceptable) Rites of passage often have spiritual connections. Structure of the ritual: rites of separation. Betwixt and between phase must put faith the elders. Once separated from the former category, one moves into this danger zone some consider this to be the most creative phase: rites of re-integration.
