COMST 214 Lecture Notes - Lecture 16: Silent Generation, Generation Z, Thesis Statement
Document Summary
Baby boomers: generally grew up amid economic prosperity, suburban affluence and strong nuclear families with stay-at-home moms because of their parents" strong work ethic and self-sacrificing behavior: gen x. Independent and adaptable: millennials, most educated and technology literate, gen z, competitive and adaptable. Silent generation do everything they can for the good of others; kids were expected to help; they don"t switch jobs very often if at all; and they rarely missed work. Generation x started to accept diversity; they do not like to follow rules. They use technology, are able to multitask, and like to do things on their own. The person i interviewed said, i enjoy hearing their ideas [older people"s], but don"t appreciate being told what to do. Generation y try to surround themselves with diversity and are more confident than previous generations. They make new rules and throw out the old ones.
