Paula england"s talk: gender inequality is stalled, 70s and "80s saw equalization, females are taking male roles but men aren"t taking typically feminine roles, male roles are more valuable than female roles. Female majors: english, sociology, psychology, business is an already masculine term, thinking versus doing, women don"t need a job because they"re place is in the house, one set of skills is more valuable than the other. The pay gap: why is a masculine job worth more than a feminine job, the market doesn"t really control this because we make the market, feminine jobs aren"t skilled labor or hard work. They"re expected to do this because this is what they"d be doing in the house already: therefore, we don"t think highly of these jobs. They aren"t important to society, so they don"t get paid like they"re important: culture itself is gendered, glass escalator white men get more money, faster promotions, pushed up the hierarchy, in female jobs.
