Document Summary

Used for communicating through digital and analog methods. Electric and magnetic fields are still involved. In this case, radio waves travel between two pieces of wire. Infrared and visible light waves can travel through very small optical wires. The advantage is that the entire bandwidth in the wire belongs to you. Much lower power levels are necessary when using wired communication: milliwatts vs watts and kilowatts can be used. Disadvantages of wired communication: high initial costs, this is because you have to spend to run wires to every person. Battery: invented around 1800 (we usually use one that is 6-12 v) Switch: controls the flow of electric current: the flow of current stops when the switch is open. Morse code: binary system (used dots and dashes, specific series of dots and dashes represented different letters, shorter patterns represented common letters (like e or t, longer patterns represented more obscure letters (like q)
