The extent of it is what needs work but basic inequality is necessary for a society to work. Different jobs need different skill sets and prior training. The ones which require a lot of both of those must have the nicest benefits to incentivize people to work hard in school and to continue their schooling in med or law school for example. When their is functional importance and shortage of applicants then benefits must rise in order to incentivize intelligent people capable of the required training to spend time and money on gaining the skills to complete this job. In ir #3, the authors argue against the notion that inequality is natural. They disprove this statement by drawing comparisons to functioning societies where inequality is very low. They believe the origin of inequality is political. They go on to say the inequality is not inevitable and actually that inequality hinders the progress of a nation"s economy.
