About 9 months-year the baby starts to imitate the sounds that it hears around him. Without knowing anything about reinforcement , parents react to these babbles which reinforces the babbles and signals the children to continue to babble. Saying ba causes parents to get excited, hug the child, smile, to reinforce the sound ba when its given a ball! Sometimes you have to encourage in the smaller incorrect behaviors because at least your trying slash doing something right. Playing the piano if you"re playing the wrong notes and the instructor says you sound good shes reinforcing the action of you at least playing keys on the paino.
