There is always a set of rules for communication, language and interaction; *know your audience* What goes on with communication? sender message receiver channel. Channel: how the message is being sent. The sender needs to be more sensitive and aware of the message than the receiver. Problems tend to occur between encoding and decoding. Physical noise: something that gets in the way of hearing the message. Psychological noise: thinking about other things while the person is speaking, preventing you from hearing the message: semantics: has to do with the meaning of noise and the meaning assigned to or associated with the words/message. Physiological noise: not hearing the message because something is going on that prevents you from hearing the message (ex: having to go to the bathroom) Ex: people from richmond talking to each other about richmond because they know about it. Context: the environment and situation of the communication.
