Document Summary

Cells do not have a lot of volume. Cells are big in importance, small in size the bigger the cell, the harder it is to travel prokaryotic cell: small cell without a nucleus or other membrane bound organelles. Eukaryotic cell: cell interior divided into functional compartments, including a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Organelle: a structure that carries out a specified function with a cell. The nucleus and all organelles have its own plasma membrane. Endomembrane system: controlled by the membrane: manufacturing system, products are sorted and shipped to various destinations. They are not straight they are folded, which makes more space. Smooth er no ribosomes; are like tunnels in cytoplasm that allows materials to move through. Finished products: membrane proteins, proteins for secretion, or enzymes. Packages finished products for shipment to final destinations. Materials leaving golgi bodies have to exit with vesicles. Vesicles: membranous sacs that move through cytoplasm- several different types.
