Hazardous waste: solid/liquid waste that is toxic, chemically reactive, flammable, or corrosive. Wastewater: used water from homes, businesses, or industries. Aims to minimize amt of waste generated (source reduction), recover waste materials & recycle them, dispose of waste safely & effectively; source reduction is the preferred approach. Waste stream: flow of waste as it moves from its sources toward disposal destinations. Recovery: recovering or removing waste from the waste stream; best strategy in wm. Recycling: used goods being manufactured into new goods. Composting: converting organic waste into mulch or humus through decomposition. Main components in us: paper, yard debris, food scraps, plastics; paper recycled most.
