A movement that is forcing the reinvention of business models and in some cases threatening the very existence of traditional forms of media. The integration of mass media, computers and telecommunications. It happens when news organizations share different formats of information for multimedia news. Digitalization - computer readable information formatted in 1s and 0s (binary numbers). Those living in the digital world rely on ipods, texting, facebook, youtube and xbox. Telephone was the first consumer medium to be digitized thanks to at&t. Film traces back to 1974 and special effects star wars. Video games were digital from the start. Digital recordings were introduced with cds in 1982. Cable and satellite television go back to 1998. Companies converted content to digital form to increase channel offerings. Hdtv goes back to 2009 for the broadcast industry. Print goes back to the late 60s. Now it is used in the final printing process to provide the traditional formats of books, newspapers and magazines.
