Just the act of being surrounded helps the healing process: perceived severity of trauma, subjective trauma can also cause ptsd, two boys 9 and 6 were water skiing with their father and their father began to drown. The father was thrown a lifejacket and recovered. She was very good at being able to push those past thoughts away. Was happily married and working and then one day she watched a movie with very similar physical abuse. This brought back all the memories for her. She began having all of memories again in nightmares. When she went to a therapist, she was told to tell him everything that she could remember in vivid details. This made her go into severe delayed ptsd although she was living her life happily just 4 weeks before this. She became completely disable to live and was depressed.
