Improvements; ocular abnormalities -> days-weeks; ataxia -> weeks to months; confusion - Treatment: prophylactic/preventive treatment; parenteral thiamine (vitamin b) administration, abstinence; multi-disciplinary services, detoxification facilities, specialized residential homes or domiciliary support, occupational therapy, specialized shelter/rehabilitation > nursing home/psychiatric ward, psychological support and a well-structured environment.
