Dorsal thalamus : the destruction of a small part of the dorsal thalamus can produce a discrete sensory or motor destruct. Hypothalamus: integrates somatic and visceral responses in accordance with the needs of the brain. This is the maintenance of the body"s internal environment within a narrow physiological range. Examples are temperature regulation, blood pressure, salinity, acidity and blood oxygen and so on. The hypothalamus has on each side three functional zones: lateral, medial, periventricular. The largest part of this zone is located next to the third ventricle. The lateral en medial have extensive connections with the brain stem and the telencephalon.
