Young adults spend only 25% of their sleep time in rem. Your eeg now includes sleep spindles, which are bursts of rapid brain wave activity. This is the deepest stage od sleep. It"s difficult to be roused from nrem-3, and if you are roused, you are very groggy. In rem sleep, your eyes move rapidly beneath your closed eyelids. Your eeg resembles that of someone who is awake.
