NURS 4431 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Informed Consent, Relative Risk
Document Summary
People you recruit to your study might be concerned about you sharing information. Reassure them/ inform them of how you will keep their information private. Its very important that you protect participants privacy. It"s understood that participants might know that each other is a part of the study. Pretty much the same as right to privacy. You have to make sure that any information they share is kept confidential. Irb wants to know that the people in the study are being treated fairly and not in any way being treated in a way that would harm them. If a new treatment comes out that would cure the disorder or disease, you must allow them to use the treatment or cure. Benefits of the study must outweigh the risks. You won"t do anything harmful to someone unless the benefits outweigh the risk. They must understand why the study is being done.
