Chapter 8
1. What point does the author illustrate with an elephant and 4 blind men? (Core
Chrisianity) pg. 71 ch 8. Each man touches a part of the elephant and determines it to be
something different illustrating that “everyone has values that are foundational to the way
we view the world and function in life.” Pg 72
2. Do Moslem leaders claim that Christianity and Islam are alike in that Allah was “the God
and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ?” (Core Christianity) pg 86-87 Not only would they
not claim it, it would violently oppose that view.
3. What are the 4 questions that Darwinians have not been able to answer? (CC) 1. Where is
the missing link? 2. How can man evolve to the highest of living beings if all the facts
suggest the process of evolution goes the other way. 3. Where did life orginate? 4. Why
there is so much opposition to intelligent design?
4. What question did the old Presbyterian catechism address first? What is the chief end of
man? To glorify God and enjoy him forever.
5. What do Christians believe the source of suffering to be? God does not cause suffering
because He is good, but suffering comes from conditions in the world.
6. What two reasons does the author suggest that we can know that Christianity actually
explains life as we know it? Christianity is a consistant belief system. It answers all of the
questions of life and the answers perfectly correspond with one another. The Christian
belief system provides a satisfying ife system for all followers of Christ in all cultures of
the world.
Chapter 10
1. What is the relationship to works and salvation? Christians are saved a part from good
works but good works are the expression of genuine faith and pratical demonstrations of
the love of God. If a person dosent serve Christ with good deeds, they are only professing
Chrstianity and probably not truly saved.
2. Why do Christians do good works? 1. Because the love of God has captured their hearts.
It isi an internal motivation that gives us compassion to reach out to others. 2. Gratitude
to Chrst. 3. Pragmatism- they contribute to a better society, they feel better about
themselves.

1. Does the image of God refer to something a human is or something a human does? Refers
to something a human is rather than something a human has or does.
2. Being created in the image of God should help to point one another to whom? God as our
King.
3. Is the image of God mentioned in both the Old Testament and the New Testament? Yes.
King David Ps.139 is an OT example. Jesus id recorded in John saying it.
