The more specific the information you need, the more structured you have to be. Psychometric vs. descriptive procedures (2 approaches to assessment: psychometric approach: standardized testing; based on a norm or score of what is considered normal by the world"s standards, terminology, standardized. They give a score that determines how the child performs in comparison to children of same age, gender, and background. You have to give these tests exactly how you are instructed to give them. The score they get helps you know if they qualify for services: normed, reliability. Results derived from the first testing being the same as results derived from repeated testing with the same population: validity. The test assesses what it says it assesses: five misuses of normative testing (only covering 3, misuse of scores. A lot of times therapists make the mistake of not checking the guidelines required to be disordered.
