Early intervention model an educational approach for young children from birth to three years of age who have, or are risk for, developmental disability. This model involves remediation of current difficulties and prevention of future problems. The early intervention model: uses a team approach. Family members and therapist from different disciplines work together to (cid:272)reate a full(cid:455) i(cid:374)tegrated therap(cid:455) pla(cid:374). (basically just know it"s a team. Approach: multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary (she"s not going to test us on these, values the family, utilizes an ifsp, focuses on natural environments, the slp assumes multiple roles. How to assess for ei: informal communication assessment (information gathering process) How do they communicate across all aspects of language (phonology, morphology, syntax, pragmatics, etc. ) These are they behaviors they use before they use symbols to get their message across. This includes: joint attention, eye gaze, gestures, vocalizations. Or are they adequately using an aac device: formal assessment of infants and toddlers.
