Document Summary

Gene- sequence of dna that leads to a trait. Allele- a form of a gene; specific form of trait. An allele can be present in a gamete only if that individual has that allele. For every pair of alleles an individual gamete only gets one. Cross an individual of unknown genotype with a homozygous recessive individual. Different pairs of alleles assort independently from one another. This results from two separate and independent monohybrid crosses. The chance that independent events will occurs simultaneously is equal to the product of the chances that they will occur separately. Incomplete dominance heterozygous individuals have a phenotype intermediate to the homozygous individuals. No more than 2 x population size alleles per gene. Human leukocyte antigen (hla) over 100 alleles in the human population. Result of genes located on one of the sex chromosomes (x or y), but not the other. Epistasis: one gene interferes with the expression of another.
