The land of the free and the home of the gators . I sat smack-dab in the middle of the crowd. The fifty-yard line was straight ahead with teams on either side lined up for the first play of the game. To my left was the opposing team dressed in white jerseys; white jerseys that would soon meet their true adversary, the ever-present mud puddles that covered the field. To my right, some would say they simply saw the black and gold uniforms of the home team, but for me, i saw so much more. I saw students in a constant competition to prove who had the most school spirit. I saw cheerleaders, dancers, and band members buzzing with anticipation, for it was finally their favorite part of the week. I saw parents reminiscing on the glory days when they were once in their kids" shoes.
