Axial age-term invented by karl jaspers (philosopher and biologist) Things that also occurred during this time period: Ending of the axial age resulted in two types of politics: introduction to political consciousness, principle of subjectivity: consciousness of self and of others, leads to estrangement, estrangement leads to political consciousness. The transition from tribal to individuated civilization or two species of political being. Tribes were the first social aspect of civilization. Best described by pronoun "we" no other notion of self. The conscience of self, of "i", apart from others developed. We know it did happen, but not sure how/when. Ex: {a few tribes members go hunting, they shoot a big deer and take it back for dinner. The hunters begin like that they should have the biggest piece, the best piece, all of it,etc. because they are the ones who actually killed it. }
