Document Summary

Leave it to beaver, i love lucy, etc. ) The marriage movement was the moving away from traditional or nuclear family ideals. Our society is currently divided by traditional/conservative and modernist/liberal ideas, and the ideas of family is no different: Diversification of families is producing negative outcomes. Favor public policy that encourages and promotes marriage as the way out of problems. We have a more individualized view on family and personal life today; what happens in the privacy of a home is generally the business of the family, not of the community. Also, there is a more personal/individual sense of self within the family and the community. ***there is more toleration in modern society for family life without the boundaries of marriage; the idea to never marry is becoming more accepted*** Nowadays, families are so diverse that the concept is fluid- think modern family tv show. However, some believe that the nuclear family is the only acceptable definition.
