When we are dead, we are unable to have positive experiences (by virtue of being unable to have any experiences) But as zombies or vampires, we would continue to have experiences we find pleasurable. Desires may change but you still have desires that can be satisfied, and old desires won"t matter because you have new desires (ex. When we are dead, the projects and desires we aim for will go unfulfilled. As zombies or vampires, however, we would continue to have desired ends and projects; they would just be different. It is better to be a human dissatisfied than a pic satisfied; better to be socrates dissatisfied than a pig satisfied . However, this cannot explain the badness of being a vampire. Moreover, someone in this state is only comparatively badly off it may be that being a human is preferable to being a pig or a zombie.
