Document Summary

General biology ii review questions for exam 1. Note: at this point in time we have not gone over all of the points in the scientific method handout. Thus, all of the information in the handout is fair game for the first exam. How does one decide whether to accept or reject a hypothesis? (be careful, don"t say, if the test agrees with the hypothesis. how do you decide if the test supports agrees or disagrees with - the hypothesis?) Using the information on page 21 of your text (10th ed) explain the difference between a theory and a hypothesis. Be able to distinguish between replications and reproducibility. Be able to simply but accurately explain what a specific p-value represents. Note that most research findings that are published in the primary literature are not reproduced before they are published. Why: be able to identify general types of questions that can"t be addressed using the scientific method.
