Document Summary

In order to understand the formulas of an inorganic complex, a spectrometer was used to monitor the whole visible region of the electromagnetic section. An iron solution and ligand were calculated in the spectrometer, which was connected to a computer running the program. Loggerpro which gave the wavelength, or amount absorbed. First a 1:1 ratio of iron to ligand was used to determine what wavelengths to look for in the other tests. The wavelengths used were 477. 3nm and 511. 7nm, which were the double hump peaks. Each time the experiment was run, the iron and ligand volume in the cuvet added up to 10ml. The iron and ligand were poured from two separate burettes into a beaker, the stirred together, and finally poured into a cuvet which was placed into the spectrometer. Figure 2: from left to right- burette, beaker, and. Figure 3: this equation was used where fm= volume of iron/10, vm=volume of iron, and.
