Political party - a group people are in favor of because of their morals/values; the end of goal of a party is to control government/government policy. The difference between this and interests groups is that interest groups aren"t a part of elections, whereas political parties definitely are. There would be no link from the people to the government. Third parties don"t last because they focus on one main problem, when majority parties focus on getting a lot don. This is the reason that most majority parties will absorb a third party idea into their platform. King caucus - back in the day of our first few presidents, a few hundred people would talk amongst themselves and pick a president. It was a small group and pretty exclusive. The founders and the people in their time were against parties because it would divide them and create tension. He said most average, white guys should get the right to vote.
