Delivers to the site the steel components that are ready to be assembled without further processing. Begins in shop with detailed drawings that show exactly how each piece will be made and its exact dimensions. (shop drawings). Sent to architect and engineer when complete for review. Fabricator places the order for all the steel members. Shapes and cuts/drills some of the smaller steel members in shop. As much connecting as possible is done in fabricator"s shop. This saves time and money in the field. Ironworkers assemble the iron pieces from the fabricator. Build up underneath floors with metal decking and concrete floors as the next floors get built up in steel. Keeps iron workers from falling through entire building if they fall. Usually 2 tower cranes used- work together- lift each other up as construction goes up. When construction over, cranes are disassembled and sent down through the elevator shafts. Build as 2-3 stories at a time.
