Concrete topping is added over them to a smooth surface. Electrical conduits can be embedded in topping. Steam furnishes heat to accelerate the hardening of the concrete moisture for full hydration. Suitable for long spans where very deep elements needed. Eliminate more non-working concrete than hollow cores. Ledgers, projecting from beam (also on inverted t-beams) provide direct support for precast slab elements. Solid panels range from 3. 5 to 10 inches in thickness. Can span 1 or 2 stories in height. Permanent forms where precast concrete elements are produced. Average 400 feet and extend to 800 feet. Reinforcing added first, any necessary pre-stressing done, weld plates and any other necessary elements placed. Lifted out by lifting loops that were cast into the concrete. Extrusion devices squeeze extremely dry, stiff concrete mix through a moving extrusion die to produce voided shape directly. Bottom layer of wet concrete is deposited in the casting bed.
